Update and FAQs on Covid-19
1. What is happening at the practice?
Effective immediately and until further notice, we have activated our COVID 19 Pandemic Management Protocol for your protection and safety.
2. Why is Northpoint Medical initiating this protocol now?
The COVID19 Virus – is a highly contagious disease. We must act now to protect ALL our patients and we make no apologies for taking your health and safety seriously.
A few wayward folks including Non Patients who have just walked in to the practice - have disregarded the safety of other patients in the waiting room and acted irresponsibly, refusing to practice safe hygiene and cover their mouths when coughing and not complying with staff health and safety instructions. What is particularly worrisome is some of these folks are not declaring or being honest about overseas travel while displaying symptoms and being dishonest.
We have Zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and conduct as it puts the community, other patients in the waiting area, their families, young children and elderly at high risk.
The practice has been safely and thoroughly disinfected and we have today activated Covid19 Pandemic protocols for the protection of all our patients and their families.
3. What does this mean?
a. The practice will remain open and fully operational as normal with all doctors and staff in attendance to look after you and your families.
b. ALL Consults with GP/Nurse is now STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENTS ONLY.
c. Restricted Entry: The front main entrance to the practice is now LOCKED for patient’s health and safety.
d. It is a condition of entry that You MUST comply with staff health and safety instructions.
e. We are no longer be accepting Walk-In Patients. We have launched a new phone consult service which will be accessible to you from the comfort of your home.Simply call us and discuss with reception.
4. What happens when you arrive for your appointment?
a. We have eliminated the waiting area to remove the risk of any cross infection and transmission through close proximity to a potentially infected patient.
b. Please stay in your vehicle.
c. Before getting out of your car - Please call and advise our staff when you are here for your appointment.
d. Our staff will ask you some additional questions, before escorting you directly to a consult room for your appointment.
e. The practice has been reoriented and set up to reduce the risk of community transmission, cross contamination/infection between patients.
h. Patient Segregation and Social distancing is paramount to limit exposure and protect the wider community.
i. If in doubt – ALWAYS Call ahead for reception at 09 320 4759 or email email@example.com for us to triage and advise you accordingly as to how best we can assist you with your concerns.
5. Teleconsult Activated
Teleconsult has been activated today and is available to all enrolled patients.
You now have safe and secure access to your GP and nurse for continuity of care.
Simply ring reception on 09 320 4759 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and the team will assist you with booking in a Teleconsult appointment which will be done from the comfort and safety of your home, car or workplace.
With our new Teleconsults in place we can remotely review and assess patients request for repeat prescriptions, medical certs (WINZ & ACC18’s) etc. Standard fee for GP/ACC consults apply.
The practice and our team continue to operate as normal. We are here to serve you and your family safely.
6. How are the staff at the practice doing?
We are grateful for your kind words, support and encouragement. We are all in this together. Our staff are doing an amazing job to make sure the practice is fully operational.
Now, more than ever we all need to be vigilant and take the necessary tough decisions to protect our patients, families, staff and the wider community while we work thorough this together.
